Personal Overview
Personal Overview
I am proud to be the eighth generation of my family born and raised in the Bronx and the first to obtain a college education. Growing up in the 70s and 80s as the child of a single mother who worked two jobs, I navigated the unique landscape of a diverse neighborhood during a time when the Bronx was one of the most vibrant and complex congressional districts in the nation. As a Jewish boy surrounded by Dominican, Puerto Rican, African American, Irish, Italian, and Chinese cultures, I experienced a dynamic childhood filled with learning, food, basketball, and hip hop.
Through my college experience at Florida Atlantic University, one of the nation’s most diverse institutions, I deepened my understanding and appreciation of diverse communities through my engagement both in and out of the classroom. College was a time for me to embrace my identity as a Jewish American; I joined the national Jewish fraternity Alpha Epsilon Pi, served in Student Government, and helped friends establish the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) chapters of Omega Psi Phi and Kappa Alpha Psi. As an upperclassman, I served as the chair of our activities board, where I developed innovative programs that celebrated our student culture and institutional experiences. From stepshows to concerts and comedy shows to film festivals, I learned through innovation and experience.
Today, I bring nearly three decades of leadership experience across a range of institutions and areas from Florida to New York. Throughout my career, I have honed my ability to navigate campus environments, consistently prioritizing student engagement and operational excellence in line with institutional goals and data. As Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Life at East Carolina University, I led large-scale initiatives, managed multimillion-dollar budgets, and directed extensive teams while fostering a student-centered culture focused on success, career readiness, and leadership development.

"First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me."
